4 new residential dwellings, Chilham, Kent
A small development of 4 new dwellings in the heart of the historic village of Chilham.
The development is located in the centre of a Conservation Area and sits adjacent to the Grade 1 Listed Church of St Mary’s, Chilham.
The new homes have been sensitively designed in a modern and contemporary style that sympathetically reflects the traditional vernacular found within the village with a twist on the proposed materials. These include charred timber cladding, black aluminium windows and black rainwater goods with modern feature chimneys and brick detailing.
The site features a single detached 2 bed house, a single detached 3 bed property and two detached 4 bed homes, providing a varied mix across the site. Each house has been individually designed to suit the sloping nature of the site whilst maximising the potential of each plot. The properties will be highly sustainable with a ‘fabric first’ approach followed by a combination of air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation heat recovery and solar thermal panels.
