The proposal sought to convert an existing Grade II Listed property (circa 1860’s), which was a former Antiques Centre (commercial), into a family home (residential) through a Full Planning and Listed Building Consent Applications.

Primarily, we worked with the Client and the Local Authority via a pre-application process to understand our limitations, and thereafter we engaged with CTP for historic repair schedules, as well as Canterbury Archaeological Trust (CAT) to produce a Heritage Statement, to ensure the adaption of the property was carried out sensitively so as to not unduly affect the historical setting and fabric of the original building.

The project achieved permission in 2023, and in time will feature two sub-terranean rooms with new external lightwells, and at ground floor a large lounge, dining and kitchen area, and finally at first floor four sizeable bedrooms and a family bathroom.

To the front, there is a new area for parking and renewed landscaping and a garden gate with pathway leading to the front door.

To the rear, the creation of a new private external courtyard.
